The clinical signs of an endocrine disease and the signs of an animal under treatment becoming unstable, can often slip under the radar until a crisis point is reached. Recognising that an endocrine disorder may be the underlying aetiology for an animal presenting as an emergency is vital for rapid diagnosis, treatment and management. This one day course will cover the theory needed to be able to swiftly recognise these cases and efficiently institute treatment for stabilisation. It will also provide an update on current diagnostics and treatment protocols.
Topics to be covered include:
• Hypoadrenocorticism: how to be sure of your diagnosis and effectively stabilise
• Diabetic ketoacidosis: how to diagnose quickly and management options
• Hypoglycaemia and insulinoma
• Hypoparathyroidism and hypocalcaemia
• Case-based examples to consolidate the theory
