This full day course will cover diagnosis and treatment of common haemostatic and haematological emergencies in dogs and cats.
We will review common causes of life-threatening haemorrhage and provide a practical approach to both surgical and medical management of blood loss. This course will also cover diagnosis and treatment of anaemia secondary to haemolysis and bone marrow disease.
Topics to be covered include:
- Review of pathophysiology: mechanisms of shock in patients with haemostatic and haematological derangement
- Management of haemorrhage due to trauma: strategies to stabilise patients with active haemorrhage and techniques to reduce blood loss prior to definitive surgery
- Common causes of coagulopathy in cats and dogs: diagnosis and treatment
- Common causes of anaemia in cats and dogs: diagnosis and treatment
