Date: Tuesday 3rd February, 2026 - Tuesday 3rd February, 2026
Start time: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Cost: £650

Canine mandibulectomy and maxillectomy procedures are commonly indicated as part of management of oral tumours, plus rarer indications such as facial trauma. The technical demand of these procedures depends on surgical site, but is often within the reach of practitioners with an active interest in surgery. As ever, familiarity and access to suitable case numbers presents a barrier to management in practice.
In line with recent CPD offerings, Liverpool aims to maximise surgical time on the day, helping to cement the practical hand skills needed for successful case management.

Learning outcomes.
By the end of the day students should be able to:
• Apply oncologic principles to plan staging and treatment of dogs with oral tumours affecting the mandible and maxilla
• Appraise the anatomical considerations for tumours of the mandible and maxilla and select appropriate cases for in-house management vs referral
• Perform local anaesthetic techniques in dogs undergoing either mandibulectomy or maxillectomy
• Design and implement suitable post-operative care plans for patients undergoing facial surgery
• Perform the following surgical procedures
o Unilateral and bilateral rostral mandibulectomy
o Unilateral and bilateral rostral maxillectomy
o Central maxillectomy
The course is suitable for practitioners looking begin surgical management of oral tumours, or those already doing so who wish to broaden their skillset.
