Description
Historically, telemedicine has been widely disregarded in the veterinary community, with many citing important aspects of practice that require a ‘hands-on’ approach. While a face-to-face visit to a veterinary practice is irreplaceable, telemedicine is gaining popularity. It proved to be a useful complementary tool during the COVID-19 pandemic and has continued to be used since then, with the CMA investigation highlighting it as a valuable way to access veterinary expertise.
Breaking free from the outdated perceptions, this course will take an informative look at the legal, professional and profitable aspects of remote veterinary care. Participants will discover how to successfully integrate remote medicine into small animal practice, gaining insights and tips in mastering tele-triage to enhance clinic offerings and maximise opportunities for all.
The course aims to build confidence in identifying common opportunities for remote engagement whilst working within ethical and legal boundaries, and looks to highlight areas that telemedicine can not only benefit the veterinary team, but also pet owners and their pets.
Topics to be covered include:
How to navigate legal and professional responsibilities
Integration of remote medicine – can it be done successfully?
Top tips to master triage and build confidence in handling out-of-hours calls
Prescription legislation and rules of remote prescribing – don’t they need to come in anyway?
How to confidently utilise remote engagement to maximise common case management
Scenarios where remote medicine aids patient care – from nervous patients to busy clients
Outsourcing remote services and how to utilise remote referrals
