About this course
Do you find nursing patients with endocrine disease complicated? Have difficulty remembering the different disease pathways? Confused by the tests and reasons for clinical decisions that the vets are making?

This six-week course provides an easy-to-understand summary of the pathophysiology of common endocrine diseases and how those diseases affect our patients. Diagnostic tests and nursing interventions will be discussed. Webinars, discussion forums, quizzes and peer feedback will contribute to your learning experience. As nurses, our focus is to learn to care for patients with a range of diseases. It is often expected that we can do so without fully understanding the pathophysiology of those diseases, or the reasons behind the treatments the veterinary surgeon chooses. Endocrinology is one of the medical topics that many of us do not have the time to study to the level that we need to understand it sufficiently. We may therefore be less able to provide the gold standard care we would like to our patients with endocrine disease. This course will refresh your knowledge of key endocrine disease pathophysiology, diagnostic tests and nursing care to help bridge the gap between ‘what we do’ and ‘why we do it’. This will allow us to recognise deterioration, unexpected clinical signs or behaviours and moderate our nursing appropriately.

Why do this course?
This course uses multi-modal teaching to offer a complete learning experience. Delegates will work with each other in forums as well as self-directed learning to allow them to meet their specific learning needs. Access to the tutor will allow support for any topics that they may struggle with and the delivery of a webinar each week will allow for easy delivery of content that delegates can watch at their own pace.
