About this course
Heat related illnesses are a spectrum of conditions that range from mild clinical signs to life-threatening emergencies. Heat stroke, the most severe of heat related illness is rapidly progressive and can be associated with a high mortality rate. Are you able to recognise all the risk factors for heat related illnesses in dogs? Would you like to learn more about hyperthermia, including the cause and consequences of it? Would you like to learn about management strategies to support and prevent heatstroke?

Heat related illness compromises a spectrum of conditions. Heat stroke is the most severe form of heat-related illness and occurs as a result of hyperthermia induced organ dysfunction which can rapidly progress to death if left untreated. This course aims to help you recognise those patients at risk of heat related illness and will focus on the treatment and management of organ dysfunction that occurs secondary heat stroke. We will also discuss important prognostic information that can help you recognise those dogs with more severe disease. This course is suitable for both experienced and new graduate vets.
