About this course
Wondering where to start with the chronaically itchy patient with horrible ears?
This course is perfect for nurses who have an interest in dermatology. Mismanaged skin cases can be a big reason for clients to become distrustful of the advice given by their veterinary practice and thus they may seek information elsewhere from Dr Google or social media or seek a second opinion or referral. On this course you will learn how to support the diagnostic decisions vets make in skin cases by learning to perform cytology, identify bacteria, yeast and common cells seen on the skin and in the ears. It will touch on lesion identification which leads to appropriate test selection, diagnosis and treatment choices of dermatologists and on atopic dermatitis (common pitfalls and aids) and basics of management (tailored to nurses). You will also learn about the common pitfalls and heroes of medication for otitis and the underlying causes contributing to relapse.
Why do this course?
Dermatology cases are common in general practice and enhancing your knowledge and skills in this area will be of benefit to the veterinarians you work with and patients under your care.
The webinars for this course have been pre-recorded and are available to view. A live Q&A session with the tutor will run on Friday 7th November at 12:30pm London time. The course also includes reading material.
