Recorded Webinar: Shoeing For Different Conditions

Duration: 2 hour(s)
Cost: £35

About this course
Are you bamboozled by the vast range of shoes available and when to use them with different conditions?

Many lameness conditions benefit from manipulations to foot balance and application of specific shoes to biomechanically protect the injured structure. A vast array of shoes are available but which should be used when, and which are backed by a solid evidence base. This includes application of pads, wedges and gel inserts. This webinar will clarify which shoes should be applied, for what conditions and for how long. The information will be highly practical and relevant to the equine practitioner. Foot balance and correct biomechanical intervention via the shoe play a hugely important role in treatment of many equine lameness conditions. Anyone dealing with lameness in the horse will benefit from the up to date, evidence based information presented in the course.

This webinar will focus on common conditions, what we want to achieve biomechanically and how each shoe seeks to achieve this. Case examples will be presented to clarify the information.

This webinar was part of the Fundamentals of equine practice – lameness series that ran in 2019. The other webinars in this series are:

Tendon injuries – first line treatment to long term management
Diagnosis and management of common foot conditions
Practical guide to the use and interpretation of nerve and joint blocks
Investigation of poor performance
The approach to the swollen joint
A practical approach to the diagnosis and management of back and sacroiliac pain
Equine laminitis
