Key Areas
Diagnostic anaesthesia of the distal limb

Treatment of soft tissue injuries

About this course
Injuries involving the fetlock and the pastern region are a common source of lameness in performance horses. In contrast to osseous pathology, soft tissue injuries can be challenging to diagnose owing to the somewhat complex soft tissue anatomy of these regions and variable patterns of response to diagnostic anaesthesia.

This webinar will discuss the clinical features and diagnosis of soft tissue injuries in the fetlock and pastern. It will cover the difficulties in identifying some of the structures injured in this region and how an accurate diagnosis is essential as treatment differs depending on the injury type. It will provide an in depth look at the different manifestations of suspensory branch injuries and address some of the difficulties faced by veterinarians in treating horses with these injuries.

Why do this course?
Participants will learn how to identify and treat different types of suspensory branch injury. They will learn how to identify other soft tissues injuries in the fetlock and pastern region such as injury of the distal sesamoidean ligaments without the use of advanced imaging techniques. This webinar is useful for all veterinarians performing lameness examinations.

A convenient and flexible way to earn some CPD hours without leaving home is to select webinars to view from our extensive library of recorded webinars.
