Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse Independent Practice Peterborough

We are working with an independent, small animal, family run veterinary practice in Peterborough who are currently recruiting for a veterinary nurse to join them as their new Head Nurse. This role will involve assisting with practice management, rota’s, managing the nursing staff, assisting in financial planning, all nurse duties and ensure high standards of care are provided across the board.

The practice ideally want to find a candidate who can work full time (40 hours per week), however for the right candidate they are willing to be flexible.

This practice has seen rapid growth in the last 12 months and the head nurse will play a key role in developing and moving forward the experienced team over the coming years.

Key Details:

Type: Small animal only

Hours Mon-Fri: Full time is 40 hours per week, flexible on part time/reduced hours. Practice is open from 8:30am until 7:00pm each day.

Weekends: 1 in 4 on a rota basis, Saturdays 9am-12:30pm and Sunday 10am until 12pm.

Sole charge: None required

OOH: None required

Team: Currently 4 RVN’s in the team, with growth expected in 2021

About the practice:

This is an independent forward thinking practice whose ethos is to always put the pet first and dedicate their time in enabling as much time can be spent together with both the client and the patient. They very much focus on proactive and preventative healthcare as opposed to just reactive healthcare, so it is important that the nurse shares this ethos and is happy to help educate clients on the best way to take care of their pet.

They have state of the art equipment and offer a wide range of modern veterinary services and facilities – these included; In house laboratory, keyhole equipment, DR Radiography, Ultrasound, dental x-rays, anaesthetic monitors and everything needed to make hospitalisation comfortable.

The Person:

This role would suit an experience veterinary nurse who has multiple years experience working as an RVN with UK practices, with ideally a few years head nurse experience in a similar role. You main attribute must be the level of care you want to provide as well as the team – the practice prides themselves on the friendly environment they have created for both staff and clients and need someone who matches these beliefs.

The Package:

Salary up to £28,000 for right person and experience

£500 CPD allowance per annum + paid additional days

5.5 weeks holiday + bank holidays

Must have:

RCVS registered and qualified

Possess the right to work in the United Kingdom

Excellent customer service and communication skills

3+ years RVN experience in the UK
