Agricultural Raw Materials Buyer
Lancashire
We are recruiting a Raw Materials Buyer for a family-run animal feed manufacturing business. As a Buyer, you will work as part of the purchasing department to source raw materials for feed manufacturing as well as a variety of products for wholesale, trade and e-commerce channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sourcing & purchasing of raw materials for all manufactured feed.
- Purchasing and management of all products for wholesale, trade and e-commerce sales channels to ensure sales performance.
- Negotiating the best prices, quality, quantities, and delivery time scales with suppliers.
- Maintaining awareness of global market conditions that could affect the acquisition of raw materials.
- Liaising with stakeholders & the finance team regarding purchasing plans.
- Understanding and analysing purchasing habits, planning seasonal changes and identifying gaps in the product line.
- Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers whilst exploring new arrangements.
- Arranging and attending meetings with potential suppliers/manufacturers , and attending trade events as necessary.
- Liaising with the Purchase Ledger Manager and managing goods in for contract products.
- Ensuring all procurement activities are in line with UK and EU legislation.
- Ensuring all actions and work activities support and adhere to feed safety rules and follow requirements of the UFAS assurance scheme.
Key Skills & Requirements:
- Strong buying/ purchasing/ procurement experience within a manufacturing environment (ideally animal feed manufacturing)
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances
- Organised with time management.
- Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills
- Must work effectively in a team and build ownership of the role, working towards oversight of the purchasing area.
- CIPS Qualification preferable.
Remuneration & Package:
- Up to £50,000 (DOE)
- 28 days holiday (inc. bank holidays)
