Glasgow Uni Vet School Seeks Locum Vet(s) - ENHANCED RATES OFFERED
Glasgow, United Kingdom
Glasgow Uni are in desperate need of additional cover for a number of dates between now and January 2022 (however any availability will be considered).
Shifts times vary between 7pm-8am for nights, 7:30am-7:30pm for days and 8am-5pm for the day backshift.
Enhanced rates have been offered of £600 for nigths and £45 per hour for days if availability is offered during the periods in which they require cover.
During the night shift you will be with a night vet intern (from 5pm to 2am, or until later if it too busy or if there is any surgery). Usually, the interns deal with the transfers from the day practices as they start earlier. They know very well how the hospital works, where to find anything, etc.
You will be with dedicated OOH RVNs (they only do night shifts, and they are very experienced in triaging, stabilisations, unstable GAs, etc.). During the day shifts you will be with 2 other veterinary surgeons and a full team of supportive RVNs.
There will be final year students in their clinical rotations, always keen to help with running bloods, catheters, etc. It is not expected to have long case discussions or tutorials, but they always appreciate some sort of teaching. I find in OOH difficult to find time to this, so what I tend to do with them is think loudly so they know what my clinical reasoning is (their main objective in the OOH rotation is this clinical reasoning) or if reading a blood result or an X-ray explain what I am thinking / seeing.
