Day/Night Locum Vet - Exciting Hospital in Sweden

Looking for a summer locum with a lifestyle upgrade? This is a unique opportunity to work in a busy, well-equipped hospital in one of Sweden’s most sought-after coastal regions, combining a varied acute caseload with an incredible summer setting.

The Opportunity

We’re working with a highly regarded animal hospital in coastal Sweden, offering multiple locum positions across the peak summer period. Based on a picturesque island region just south of Kalmar, this role combines high clinical standards with a vibrant, tourist-driven caseload.

You’ll be joining a large, experienced team in a modern hospital environment, with access to referral-level facilities and a strong support network.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality care across a busy acute and emergency caseload
• Perform routine and emergency surgeries confidently
• Work collaboratively within a large, experienced veterinary and nursing team
• Provide excellent client communication during a high-demand seasonal period

Day Shift Roles (Hospital – English Speaking)

• Mid-June to mid-August availability
• 4–5 days per week
• 8-hour shifts: 8:00–17:00 or 12:00–20:00
• No on-call requirements
• Optional weekend shifts available (emergency or surgical roles)
• 30-minute consults with structured emergency slots

Night Shift Roles (Hospital – English Speaking)

• 4-week blocks available from mid-June onwards
• 19:00–07:00 shifts (with reduced workload overnight and on-call structure)
• Supported by a dedicated night nursing team onsite
• 3–4 shifts per week (flexibility to work up to 5 consecutively)
• Accommodation provided close to the hospital

Facilities & Support

• Large team: approximately 20 vets and 50–60 RVNs
• Highly experienced in emergency and critical care
• Advanced facilities including MRI, CT, endoscopy and orthopaedics
• Structured support with introduction days provided

Requirements

• Experienced Veterinary Surgeon confident with sole working
• Strong emergency and surgical skillset
• Comfortable performing procedures such as pyometra, GDV and foreign body surgeries
• Able to manage a fast-paced, acute caseload

• Day rates: €450–€500
• Night rates: €850–€950
• Affordable accommodation arranged (typically €450–€550/month)
• Minimum 4-week bookings accepted
