Are you a Registered Veterinary Nurse ready to take the reins and lead a dynamic team? We're recruiting for a Head RVN on behalf of a well-established, community-focused practice located in the beautiful East Sussex countryside.

🐾 The Opportunity:

This full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract (covering 40 hours/week) includes a 1:6 weekend rota at a nearby hospital, giving you variety without the burden of heavy out-of-hours responsibilities.

You'll lead a friendly, experienced team made up of:

• 3 Veterinary Surgeons
• 1 Registered Veterinary Nurse
• 2 Student Veterinary Nurses
• Client Care Assistants

As Head Nurse, you’ll take charge of day-to-day clinical operations — mentoring team members, driving high standards, and delivering exceptional patient and client care. The practice sees a varied surgical and medical caseload, making it a brilliant platform to flex and grow your skills.

🌟 What You’ll Bring:

• RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse
• Minimum 3 years UK nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role
• Confident team leader with strong mentoring, communication, and coaching skills
• Clinical Coach qualification (or willingness to gain it)
• Passion for high standards and improving clinic performance
• Hands-on approach and ability to lead by example

💼 Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee clinical standards and compliance across the nursing team
• Support and train student nurses and SVNs
• Organise day-to-day clinical activities and rotas
• Promote and deliver nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures
• Work closely with the practice leadership team on operational and performance goals
• Champion a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
