A well-equipped small animal practice in Norfolk is looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join their supportive and experienced nursing team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an RVN who is passionate about delivering excellent patient care and wants to work within a collaborative clinical environment across both hospital and first-opinion practice settings.
The practice prides itself on treating every patient as if they were their own, with a strong focus on clinical excellence, teamwork, and outstanding client care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high standards of inpatient and surgical nursing care
- Assist Veterinary Surgeons in line with RCVS Schedule 3
- Conduct nurse consultations and nurse clinics
- Provide client advice on general pet healthcare
- Support admitting and discharging patients, including client communication
- Provide patient updates to owners during hospitalisation
- Assist with triaging emergencies and appointment allocation
- Maintain accurate patient records and medication dispensing
- Support student veterinary nurses and nursing assistants
- Contribute to infection control and clinical cleaning protocols
- Assist with stock control and equipment maintenance
- Participate in nurse meetings and clinical protocol discussions
Working Pattern
Shift patterns rotate across the nursing team and include:
- Early: 6:45am – 3:45pm
- Day: 8:30am – 5:30pm
- Evening: 9:30am – 6:30pm
- Late: 10:30am – 7:30pm (includes second nurse on-call cover)
Additional rota details:
- Weekend rota: 1 in 5 weekends (time off in lieu provided)
- Waking nights: 7pm – 7am, rotated approximately 1 in 15
- £2,000 night allowance added to salary when starting night rota
The role includes working across two practice sites in the area, ensuring continuity of care for patients requiring hospitalisation or advanced diagnostics.
Requirements
- RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
- Level 3 Diploma / FdSc / BSc in Veterinary Nursing
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage a varied caseload in a busy practice environment
- Passion for delivering high clinical standards and patient care
- Organised, adaptable, and proactive approach to nursing duties
