The Role:

Our client is an independent family-run practice seeking an RVN to join their friendly and supportive team.

The practice has a fantastic location and a loyal client base with which they have created fantastic relationships. The family opened the business 10 years ago, as they wanted to set up a practice that treated the patients like their own and prioritised care and their needs.

They have a varied and interesting caseload, approximately 40% dogs, 30% cats, and 30% exotics (of which 50% are rabbits/guinea pigs and small mammals, 30% birds, 15% reptiles, and 5% zoo work). Please don’t be put off by the exotic caseload as there is always support available and they’re happy to share their knowledge and provide in-house training if needed. They also support local practices with advice and offer referral consultations.

The practice has a fantastic range of equipment to ensure that they are helping/treating their patients as best as possible, this includes: digital X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound with cardiac capabilities (they have just upgraded to a brand new scanner), video gastroscope, bronchoscope, laryngoscope, rigid scope, multi-parameter monitors, and laser therapy., however, they also have all of the usual general equipment you would expect to find. As well as having a luxury pet hotel which looks after the pets on long-term medication and allows our clients to have a stress-free holiday.

They have created a fantastic team, and are looking for someone who will fit in with the amazing team they already have. The team currently consists of 4-night vets, 3-day vets, and 2 ongoing part-time locum vets (who have been at the practice for 12 months now). Currently, the nurse team consists of around 7-day nurses and 2-night nurses, they all have a wide variety of interests including exotics, dentistry, basic behaviour and ECC.

The team are a genuinely happy team that enjoys working together to offer the best service to their lovely, loyal clients. They have an open-door policy, and we all know if we have any issues or concerns then management is always available to have a chat and values their team's input. They also enjoy getting together socially and making the most of their beautiful rural setting with activities like hiking, dog walks, kayaking, and trips to the local pubs. They also have our regular summer BBQ and Christmas party.

This is a full-time position working 4 and ½ days (39 hours), the role does not include any OOH as they have their dedicated night team for this, however, there may be the occasional time when cover is needed for holiday or sickness. This role does involve a weekend rota of 1:8 Saturday mornings (8:30 am – 2:00 pm) and a Sunday on-call (this can be worked from home), with the following days off to compensate for the weekends worked.

The ideal candidate would be someone who has a keen passion for animal welfare and treats their patients like their own. They would be a good team player and be someone always willing to help and support other team members. It is important for the practice that their team get along to help ensure that the working environment is bubbly and friendly. They would also be looking for someone loyal, open and honest to match their business ethos.

If you think this role may be for you and would like to hear more about the position, please reach out to Evie Godwin and she would be more than happy to help.
