North Finchley, North London, United KingdomWe are recruiting for a permanent Registered Head Veterinary Nurse to join a small animal practice North Finchley London. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week with a 1:3 weekend rota with time off in lieu. Shifts vary between 8.30am – 5pm and 9.30am – 6pm and 11am – 7.30pm. There is an on call and bank holiday rota shared amongst the nursing team across the regional practices.
This is a new busy practice which is continuing to grow from strength to strength. They now seek an additional RVN to join their team. The RVN would be joining the lead Vet along with an RVN and two PCAs. They offer onsite free parking and are close to local amenities and major transport links.

The practices provide a high standard of clinical care and pride themselves on having staff members who stand apart from the rest and have a real passion and vision for how they work. They provide ongoing training and support to all team members through dedicated training centres. All staff also benefit from the access to the best diagnostic equipment such as MRI machines and CT scanners and state of the art operating theatres in the nearest animal hospital.
About the role
The role involves all aspects of general nursing including looking after in patients as well as clients, assisting with the Veterinary Surgeons where required, administering medications, and ensuring that a high level of veterinary care is delivered. As Head RVN they will be responsible for ensuring health and safety protocols are adhered to along with training and developing the nursing team. The RVN will maintain their clinical skill set and there is support available to develop areas of special interest. The RVN will also explore ways of developing practice standards. The role requires a caring and empathetic attitude along with excellent communication skills. The RVN must demonstrate good leadership skills and ensure the efficient running of the nursing team and practice.
Who are they looking for
The role would be ideal for a confident and ambitious RVN looking to lead a team and become a clinical coach. The RVN must have two years’ experience since qualification as a minimum. The RVN must support and develop the team whilst also providing daily nursing duties and lead by example. There is plenty of support available from management with a in house training programme available.
Previous head nurse experience would be advantageous but not essential but the RVN must be looking to take their next career step. The RVN must have excellent communication and customer care skills and be able to build client relationships easily.
