The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team here at Robson Veterinary Hospital, Laurencekirk on a temporary basis for 12 months!
Day-to-day duties work on a rotation so you will be consulting at Laurencekirk and one branch practice per week and operating once per week. You will be able to do your own workups and follow them through to surgery if applicable. You will have two days off per week arranged on a rota basis.
The caseloads variable, usually with a day operating weekly and the rest of their time consulting, both routine and complex cases, with the support and encouragement to fully work up and follow through on cases to provide continuity. There will be a degree of sole charge working, with support always available by phone or in person when required. We see predominantly cats and dogs, with a small amount of rabbits, exotics and birds.
Vets Now cover our OOH weekdays from 7 pm and weekends from 6 pm. There will be OOH from 1-6 pm on a Saturday and Sunday 8 am-6 pm. The current Saturday morning rota is 1:6 and the weekends are 1:6. Happy to discuss flexible working hours and rotas with candidates to meet your requirements!

About Us
Our Laurencekirk surgery is situated 30 minutes from Aberdeen City and 50 minutes from Dundee. There are beautiful views of the foothills of the Cairngorms with lovely walks and trails. Equally we are situated close to beaches like St Cyrus nature reserve and Stonehaven beach. We have a train station a 5-minute walk from the practice with links to Montrose and Portlethen where are branches are situated. We have a fully equipped surgical suite with Endoscopy, Digital xray, Dental Xray, Laser, Multiparameter machines, Infusion pumps, IV fluid pumps, and a new ultrasound machine. We have separate Isolation and ICU wards as well as separate Cat and Dog wards. Front of house we have three consulting rooms, a large waiting area with dog and cat areas separated. We provide a high standard of care to all our patients and regularly receive excellent reviews.
About the Team and Culture
We currently have 7 vets, 8 nurses and 5 vcas. We have three vets during certificates in dermatology, medicine, soft tissue surgery and ECC. We have a vet with a keen interest in Exotic Species. We recently raised money for Barnardos over xmas and are interested in doing some charity pursuits in the summer. We are actively engaging in schools this year and doing mock interviews at Mearns Academy and school visits to nurseries and primary schools.
Applicant Requirements
Due to the position being temporary, the main criteria is availability to start from March 2023. Previous experience in a small animal practice is required.
