Berkshire SA Hospital seeking permanent Vet to join their team on a full time basis
Key Responsibilities
• Consult, diagnose, and medically treat small animals
• Perform a range of surgical procedures including neutering and general surgery
• Participate in the emergency and out-of-hours rota (no overnight on-call)
• Maintain accurate clinical records and update clients on treatment progress and lab results
• Demonstrate consistent professional standards in attendance, punctuality and presentation
• Adhere to health & safety policies and practice protocols
• Promote relevant services such as nurse clinics, preventative care, and special offers
• Provide guidance, support and supervision to nursing and support staff
• Maintain commercial awareness—provide clear estimates and manage client expectations
• Build strong relationships with clients, colleagues and the wider community
• Assist with general client enquiries and support other team members when required
• Undertake CPD in line with RCVS guidelines
• Complete additional duties at the request of the Practice Principal or Practice Manager
Working Hours & Rota
• 4 days per week
• Starting 8am/8.30pm - 5:30pm/6:30pm. 1 late shift per week (1pm - 9pm)
• No overnight on-call
• 1:5 weekends, Sat & Sun morning consults and on-call until 5pm (with TOIL Mon & Fri following week)
Essential Skills & Experience
• MRCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Post-qualification experience in small animal practice
• Occasional large animal experience beneficial
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good IT literacy
• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
• Client-focused with strong customer care skills
• Able to remain calm under pressure
• Self-motivated, confident working independently
• Positive, enthusiastic and a strong team player
• Full driving licence (own car required; must be insured for business use)
• Must live within an agreed commuting distance of the practice
