The Practice We’re Supporting
GVC is working with a well‑established small‑animal practice in the Cambridgeshire region. The practice has a supportive clinical team comprising veterinary surgeons, registered veterinary nurses, student nurses, receptionists and a veterinary care assistant. With certificate‑level expertise within the team and a collaborative working culture, the practice provides a stable and well‑resourced environment for vets seeking a balanced and progressive role.
The practice operates from a purpose‑built, air‑conditioned facility equipped with ultrasound, digital radiography, tonometry, K‑laser and additional diagnostic tools. Alternative therapies, including acupuncture, are available and encouraged. The location offers strong transport links, with easy access to major routes, nearby airports and direct rail connections into central London.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a range of consultations, including routine medical and surgical cases.
- Perform diagnostics such as blood sampling, imaging, tonometry and ultrasound.
- Carry out routine soft‑tissue surgeries, with exposure to occasional orthopaedic procedures.
- Work independently during periods of sole charge while maintaining alignment with RCVS best practice.
- Collaborate with the wider clinical team to ensure high standards of patient care and client communication.
What the Practice Can Offer You
- A full‑time working pattern of 37 hours per week, including a 1:4 weekend rota and no out‑of‑hours.
- Salary up to £70,000 depending on experience.
- Generous CPD allowance with support for certificates.
- 5.6 weeks annual leave, increasing to 6.6 weeks after two years.
- Contributory pension scheme.
- Paid professional memberships (RCVS, VDS).
- Access to wellbeing support, pastoral care and colleague assistance programmes.
- Cycle‑to‑work scheme and additional lifestyle benefits.
- In‑house career development opportunities within a supportive team environment.

- Independent Working – Confidence managing periods of sole charge while maintaining clinical standards.
- Clear Communication – Ability to explain treatment plans and maintain strong client relationships.
- Team Collaboration – Comfortable working within a multi‑disciplinary team to support patient outcomes.
