GVC is assisting a well-established small animal clinic in South Wales, with the recruitment of an experienced Veterinary Surgeon for a permanent, full-time role. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident clinician who enjoys a varied caseload and wants to work within a supportive, collaborative team environment.
This busy first-opinion practice sees a high volume of ECC cases and is well equipped with multiple consulting rooms, a dedicated operating theatre, and an imaging suite. The team is supported by experienced nurses who actively undertake Schedule 3 procedures, allowing vets to focus on delivering high-quality medicine and surgery. Additional diagnostic support, including ultrasound scanning, is available when required.
Located in the heart of South Wales, the practice benefits from a strong community feel and outstanding access to the Brecon Beacons, making it ideal for candidates who enjoy outdoor pursuits alongside a rewarding clinical role. Excellent road links also provide easy access to Cardiff and the M4 corridor.
The Role
- Permanent, full-time position
- 40 hours per week over 4 days
- 1 in 4 Saturdays
- Part-time options considered for the right candidate
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high standards of clinical care across both consultations and surgery
- Manage a varied first-opinion caseload, including ECC work
- Build strong relationships with clients through clear communication and tailored treatment plans
- Work collaboratively with vets, nurses, and support staff to maintain clinical excellence
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the practice and wider clinical team
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Veterinary Surgeon, MRCVS registered
- Confident in both medicine and surgery
- Comfortable working in a busy practice environment
- A team player with a genuine commitment to patient and client care
Salary & Benefits
- £45,000-£65,000
- 5 weeks’ annual leave
- CPD allowance of £1,500 plus paid CPD leave
