My client are a long-established charity practice with over 100 years of caring for pets and the people who love them. The Cardiff team supports thousands of owners each year, delivering accessible veterinary care and making an enormous difference in the community. They’re now looking for an experienced and compassionate Senior Veterinary Surgeon to lead our busy Cardiff practice.

In this role, you will oversee the full clinical and operational running of the practice. You’ll be the line manager for the Vet Surgeon Team Leaders, Head Nurse and Client Services Manager, and you’ll help create a supportive, collaborative culture where everyone can thrive. Your work will ensure the highest standards of patient care, smooth day-to-day workflow, excellent client experience, and responsible use of resources as a charity. You’ll also take responsibility for budgeting treatment costs, monitoring income and expenditure, and ensuring the practice remains sustainable without compromising on care.

They’re looking for someone who leads by example, communicates with warmth and clarity, and enjoys bringing out the best in others. You should be confident making clinical and operational decisions, adaptable when challenges arise, and committed to compassionate, high-quality veterinary care. A strong background in clinical work and people management is essential.

In return, they're offering a generous package including a salary of £65,563–£71,616 (DOE), flexible working options, 38 hours of funded CPD and a £1,000 annual CPD allowance, full RCVS fees paid, strong leadership and career development pathways, and access to a wide range of internal training programmes. You’ll receive 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell up to five days, along with an additional Wellbeing Day, Celebration Day and Volunteering Day each year. They also provide enhanced pension contributions of 5–10%, life assurance at four times your salary, private medical insurance, 24/7 wellbeing support, Cycle to Work, free flu vaccination and a wide selection of retail and leisure discounts.

If you’re a motivated and empathetic Veterinary Surgeon who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment, this is an opportunity to make a real impact. Get in touch for more details!
