Step into leadership without losing the clinical work you love.
We are working with an ambitious, forward-thinking veterinary practice in Cheshire that has just completed a major refurbishment and rebrand — and they are looking for a Lead Vet to help take things to the next level. This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced vet who wants real influence over clinical direction without taking on the full weight of practice management.
The Working Pattern
- 30 hours across 3 days per week
- 1 in 5 Saturdays, 9:00am — 12:30pm
- No Sundays. No out of hours. No exceptions.
What the role looks like day to day
Working closely alongside the Head Vet and supported by a capable Practice Manager, you will be the go-to person for clinical guidance within the team. This is a hands-on, clinically focused role — not an admin-heavy one.
You will be:
- Providing senior clinical oversight and supporting complex case decision-making
- Mentoring and developing junior vets to reach their full potential
- Promoting best practice across anaesthesia, surgery and patient safety
- Contributing to clinical protocols, audits and continuous improvement
- Acting as the senior clinical point of contact in the Head Vet's absence
- Sharing ideas with the practice owners to enhance care standards and daily flow
The Practice
A well-established, recently refurbished practice with exciting new ownership driving real positive change. The team currently includes 7 vets, 5 RVNs, 2 SVNs and 3 receptionists — a varied and experienced group with a wide range of clinical interests. The caseload is broad, with a high proportion of insured pets and engaged, proactive clients.
Located in a historic and vibrant city in the Northwest of England, within easy reach of both Liverpool and Manchester, with excellent transport links and a great quality of life on offer.
As a team they genuinely enjoy each other's company — dog walks, charity events, escape rooms and the occasional pub trip all feature. It is that kind of place.
What is on offer
- Up to £70,000 per annum
- 3 days per week — genuine work-life balance
- No OOH, no Sundays
- Professional registration fees fully funded
- Further study towards clinical qualifications or veterinary management courses funded and encouraged
- A supportive, close-knit team with strong communication throughout
