A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to step into a Lead Vet role within a supportive, forward‑thinking practice in Cheshire. This position offers genuine autonomy, the chance to influence clinical standards and the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the practice.
You will be joining at an exciting time, with a major refurbishment and rebrand recently completed. The Lead Vet works closely with the Head Vet, providing senior clinical guidance, supporting complex case decision‑making and helping maintain consistently high standards across the clinical team.
This role is ideal for a vet with proven leadership skills or someone ready to step up into a senior clinical position with strong support from the Head Vet, Practice Manager and owners.
The Role
You will work 30 hours per week across three days, with 1 in 5 Saturday mornings (9:00–12:30). There are no Sundays or out‑of‑hours. The caseload is varied, with a high proportion of insured clients and proactive owners.
As Lead Vet, you will provide clinical oversight, support colleagues with case management, promote best practice in anaesthesia and surgery, and assist with clinical protocols, audits and continuous improvement. You will also act as the go‑to clinician for clinical concerns in the absence of the Head Vet.
The team consists of seven vets, five RVNs, two SVNs and three receptionists, supported by a strong management structure. The practice has a friendly, communicative culture and enjoys regular social activities, helping maintain a positive and cohesive working environment.
