Mixed Vet Role In Cumbria - LA Bias
Cumbria, United Kingdom
An established and highly respected mixed veterinary practice is seeking an enthusiastic Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join their experienced and supportive team.
This is a progressive mixed practice with a strong emphasis on preventive herd and flock health. The farm client base is loyal and largely based within a compact 10-mile catchment area, supporting excellent continuity of care and a manageable working day. Practice turnover is currently 70:30 Large Animal to Small Animal, with genuine scope to further develop the small animal side for those with an interest.
The role is approximately 90% farm animal (very little equine) and 10% small animal, mainly covering on-call, weekends, or when the designated SA vet is off, with flexibility to increase SA involvement if desired. The practice offers true clinical freedom and actively supports professional development, including fully funded postgraduate qualifications. Facilities include modern equipment such as ultrasound, digital X-ray, and bull breeding soundness equipment.
You will join a six-vet team (5 LA vets, including job-share arrangements, and 1 designated SA vet with no on-call), supported by a Clinical Director, Practice Manager, two nurses, and a dedicated reception team.
Working pattern:
4-day working week
1 long weekend off in 5 (Friday–Monday inclusive)
2-in-5 out-of-hours rota (likely reducing to 1-in-5), with generally light OOH workload and two vets always on call
Package includes: competitive salary (DOE), CPD allowance, company car (private mileage reimbursed), pension scheme, generous holiday allowance, and staff discount.
