About Us
We are a first opinion, small animal practice, located in a beautiful and friendly town of Belper in Derbyshire. We are located on the edge of the Peak District National Park and see a wide range of routine and challenging cases. We have a supportive network of IVC referral services around us and excellent links with local practices in the area to share information and expertise. Equipment wise we have digital x-ray, ultrasound (with colour doppler and cardiac probe), multi-parameter, hydraulic tables, Tonopen, Doppler and in house blood facilities. We use Vetstream, VPIS and have a nice library. We are moving in the next few months to a gorgeous, larger premises, about a mile down the river Derwent, which we're very excited about. This will give us the opportunity to expand the team and our offerings to our clients.
About the Team and Culture
Our success and growth are achieved by looking after our clients, their pets and supporting our colleagues as they mean the world to us. You will receive support from 4 vets (including one CD and one SA medicine cert holder), Practice Manager and the rest of our friendly team. Our practice is run from one site, meaning that there is always support (and drink of your choice!) to hand. We can support further training and qualifications, including certificates and any interests you may be keen to develop to ensure your happiness and the success of the business.
We also support the IVC graduate scheme and are an RVN training practice. We are keen to support additional training in areas such as pet bereavement, first aid, mental health first aid, domestic abuse awareness and menopause.
We aim to maintain a sense of humour and support each other on stressful days. The key words we use when describing our team are friendly, helpful, kind, supportive, welcoming and learning-forward. We have a no-blame culture with regular meetings and discussions.
Applicant Requirements
The successful candidate would ideally have experience working in the UK as a veterinary surgeon both consulting and operating. Ideally capable of sole charge, although this is rarely required.
You need to always strive for excellent communication and be able to demonstrate a high standard of patient and client care and always provide this with empathy.
We are a close team with the emphasis on being a kind and caring team member. We'd like you to be confident and organised, with a happy, approachable personality.
