An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a long‑established independent first‑opinion practice in Dorset. This is a senior role offering a 32‑hour week as standard, with a strong focus on clinical autonomy, high‑quality patient care and a supportive team culture.
The practice operates across two branches and has been part of the local community for 35 years. The main site was purpose‑designed by the team and offers a modern, spacious working environment. The caseload is varied, the client base is loyal and the team places a strong emphasis on collaboration, communication and shared decision‑making.
The Role
You will be joining a team of five vets across both sites, with no one working more than 32 hours per week. There is no out‑of‑hours and only 1 in 5 Saturday mornings, finishing at 12:00 so everyone is home by lunchtime.
The practice encourages clinical freedom and individual case‑based decision‑making. Full‑time is preferred (four‑day week), but part‑time options can be discussed. Salary expectations are around £65,000 FTE depending on experience.
The practice strongly supports professional development, funding CPD without a financial cap where it benefits both the clinician and the practice. Fees are paid, holidays are generous and staff discounts are available.
The team meets monthly to discuss cases, new products and any ideas for improvement. Everyone’s input is valued, and new ideas are actively encouraged. The practice also enjoys sharing knowledge through client evenings, training student nurses and supporting new graduates.
The practice is accredited as cat friendly (silver) and dog friendly practice.
