Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Practice | East Devon
Salary: £35,000 - £65,000 DOE | Hours: 3–5 days per week (FT or PT)
No OOH / No Sundays / No On Call
A proudly independent, family-run small animal practice in East Devon are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly, supportive team. With true clinical freedom, a relaxed but high-standard working environment, and one of the only independent setups left locally, this is a brilliant opportunity for a Vet who values autonomy, balance and being genuinely listened to.
The Practice
Based a stones throw from beautiful coastline and the city of Exeter, this small but busy practice has built a strong reputation and a loyal client base in the local area. The team includes: 1 lead vet, 2 RVNs + Support team.
Facilities include two consult rooms, a dedicated theatre, digital X-ray, inhouse laboratory, ultrasound, in-house orthopaedics with a visiting specialist, and a full range of modern equipment.
The culture is relaxed, flexible and people-focused; they understand life happens, and communication and collaboration are genuinely valued. Due to continued growth, they’re now looking for an additional Vet to join the team.
The Role
This is an adaptable position suitable for part-time or full-time applicants:
Minimum 3 days per week – up to 5 days if preferred
Saturdays: Ideally an equal share of the rota (1:2), 9am–12pm but flexible for the right person
No Sundays, Bank Holidays or OOH
Mix of consulting and surgery
Some sole charge required (but with a highly supportive team)
The practice is also Home Office–approved for sponsorship, so can consider overseas-qualified candidates with RCVS registration.
Hours & Salary
Salary: £35,000 - £65,000 DOE
Full-time or part-time options available

About You
RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon (required)
Comfortable with both consults and surgery
Confident with occasional sole charge
