A genuinely values-led practice. A true 4-day week. Complex surgery with real support.
When doing the right thing matters to you
If you are an experienced vet who still loves clinical work but wants it to feel meaningful again, not rushed, not profit driven, and not lonely, this role is worth a closer look. This is for someone who wants to use their skills fully while helping others grow alongside them.
The Opportunity
We are working with a large, well-equipped small animal clinic in Ashton-under-Lyne that has built something genuinely different. This is a practice designed around access to care, clinical integrity, and teamwork, not hierarchy or targets.
You will join a stable, friendly team delivering high-quality medicine across a varied and interesting caseload. The role is deliberately balanced, with a 50/50 split between consulting and surgery, allowing you to build strong client relationships while continuing to develop your surgical interests.
They are looking for a confident Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys complex soft tissue surgery and is happy to manage these cases independently. Just as important is your willingness to support and mentor other vets, helping them build confidence and capability in surgery within a supportive, no-ego environment.
Why This Role Is Different
A clinic built to let you do your job properly
- Five consulting rooms, two advanced theatres, and a fully equipped dental suite
- Separate dog and cat wards to reduce stress and improve inpatient care
- A broad mix of medical and surgical cases that keeps your clinical work varied and engaging
Surgical depth without isolation
- Regular exposure to more complex soft tissue procedures
- An on-site orthopaedic surgeon, offering collaboration, shared learning, and clinical support
- Time and space to do surgery properly, not rushed between consults
A culture without hierarchy
- Flat structure where every voice matters
- Decisions guided by patient welfare and clinical judgement, not KPIs
- A genuinely inclusive environment where people stay because they feel valued
Values you can stand behind
- A Community Interest Company model focused on sustainability, not maximising profit
- Free consultations and transparent pricing that remove barriers to treatment
Your Journey Here
In your first month, you will settle into the team, get comfortable with the systems, and start building relationships with colleagues and clients. You will be supported as you learn how the clinic works and how best to contribute your strengths.
By three months, you will be confidently managing your own consulting and surgical caseload, taking the lead on more complex soft tissue procedures, and beginning to mentor less experienced vets in surgery and case management.
By six months, you will be a trusted senior presence within the team. You may be pursuing funded CPD or certificate training, shaping clinical standards, and playing a key role in developing others, while still enjoying a balanced, sustainable working week.
