Caroline Purnell

Leigh, Lancashire, United Kingdom

We are a first opinion small animal practice who endeavour to provide the best care possible to both our patients and our clients looking to expand our team.
We are happy to sponsor and support candidates coming from outside the UK.
If this interests you please get in touch via carolinepurnell@mypetsvetsltd.co.uk
We are a family owned and run independent practice based in Leigh UK with easy access to Manchester and Liverpool along with the surrounding countryside including north Wales, the lake district and the peak district.
We have two practices, a stand-alone branch practice with surgical facilities, x-ray, ultrasound, in house diagnostics and dental facilities and a larger hospital practice which has the added benefit of endoscopy, therapeutic light laser, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy (provided by a canine physiotherapist).
We provide our own 24-hour care with our own dedicated night team comprising vets, nurses and vcas which allows us to provide high levels of care to our patients and enables us to work up cases fully and follow them through, which results in high levels of job satisfaction. We provide 24-hour care for our own patients and also for one other local practice, in addition we work well with our local practices and provide 24-hour care for their patients when necessary.
We have a number of vets currently working towards certificates in ECC, medicine and surgery as well as one current certificate holder in exotics.
Our nurses are highly trained and motivated with many holding further qualifications and certificates our head nurse has recently become the first RVN in the UK to obtain his graduate certificate in advance veterinary nursing.
We have a dedicated reception team and a management team in place along with veterinary care assistants ensuring a wide range of support throughout the practice.
We support and encourage our team members to pursue their own interests and will create opportunities which will allow them to do so.
We work closely with local specialists and often having a visiting ultrasonographer, cardiologist, orthopedic surgeon, soft tissue surgeon in practice.
We are looking for a highly motivated vet who wants to work in a busy independent practice with a strong support system. The successful individual will want to build up their own client basis and develop good customer relationships, they will want to be part of an expanding practice and enthusiastic about the care we can provide to our patients. They will be happy to work independently but enjoy being part of an enthusiastic and dedicated team who discuss cases and ideas on a daily basis.
The day rota is a 4-day working week with 1 in 5 weekends (8.30am 6.30/7pm), following the weekend you get a day back in lieu making the week after a weekend a 3-day working week. We offer 6.6 weeks holiday, and this would be pro-ratad for a part time position.
We are looking for a full-time vet but would consider part time or flexible working arrangements - we are looking for the right person for our team.
We are open to vets who want to pursue a surgical bias or to those with specialist medical interests such as cardiology/ophthalmology/imaging/internal medicine etc, or to those who want a good mix of everything this fantastic career has to offer.
Salary is dependent on experience and ranges between 30 50K for those without a certificate.

We are also looking for a vet to work a 1 10pm shift, the rota for this is very flexible with the current team working a 2 on 2 off, 5 on 5 off rota. We would be happy to work out a rota which works well for a potential candidate.
This role allows vets to build strong client relationships and to also get a good mix of emergency and critical care work at the same time.
