A well-equipped small animal practice in North West London is seeking a confident Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join the team on a 12-month maternity cover contract.
This is a part-time role (3 days per week) offering the opportunity to lead clinical standards in a supportive, well-structured environment with experienced nursing support and access to a nearby 24-hour hospital.
This position would suit an experienced vet comfortable with sole charge who enjoys building client relationships and delivering high-quality first opinion care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality consultations and routine surgical procedures
- Take clinical leadership within the practice
- Work confidently in a sole charge setting
- Collaborate with an experienced RVN and Veterinary Care Assistant
- Maintain excellent clinical and client care standards
- Liaise with the nearby 24-hour hospital for referrals and additional support
Practice Facilities
- Two dedicated consult rooms
- Digital X-ray
- Dental suite
- Fully equipped operating theatre
- Support from a nearby 24-hour hospital for emergencies and complex cases
Role Details
- 12-month maternity cover contract
- Part-time: 3 days per week
- Salary up to £60,000 FTE (pro rata)
- 1 in 3 Sundays rota
- Only 2 weeks of on-call per year
- Sole charge role with experienced on-site support
Candidate Requirements
- RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
- Confident with routine surgery and consultations
- Comfortable working sole charge
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Previous experience in a lead or senior role preferred
