Job description
Overview
Our client is hiring for a Veterinary Surgeon, for their recently refurbished and exceptional looking practice. The practice is located in the town centre close to all amenities and close to Nottingham city centre. Facilities include ultrasound/digital X-ray/ECG, MRI and CT.
The team currently has four vets, one currently taking a certificate in medicine. The support team of three nurses, a student nurse, three patient care assistants and two client care assistants is led by an experienced head nurse with a certificate in animal behaviour and is an accredited kennel club trainer.
This is a full-time role working 40 hours a week over 4 days with 1:3 half weekends (morning at the Hucknall practice and afternoon at Sherwood doing consult only) Part-time applications are welcome and they are open to being flexible where they can so let us know what works for you.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health and diagnose conditions.
- Perform surgical procedures, including routine surgeries and emergency interventions.
- Administer anaesthesia and monitor patients during surgical procedures.
- Provide post-operative care and follow-up consultations with pet owners.
- Collaborate with veterinary nurses and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for all patients.
- Educate pet owners on preventative care, nutrition, and general health issues.
- Stay updated on advancements in veterinary medicine and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Experience
- A degree in Veterinary Medicine is essential, along with relevant professional qualifications.
- Previous experience in a veterinary practice is highly desirable, particularly in surgical settings.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and diagnostics is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
- A compassionate approach towards animal care and a commitment to ethical practices.
