Location: South-East Cornwall
Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum + performance bonus
An independent, multi-branch veterinary practice is preparing to launch a new clinic in South-East Cornwall in Autumn 2026 and is seeking an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to lead this exciting new venture.
This is a rare opportunity for a confident and capable veterinary professional to take ownership of a new branch from the outset, playing a central role in its development, growth, and long-term success—without the financial risks associated with practice ownership.
The Role
- The successful candidate will take on a leadership position within a newly established branch, initially working alongside a small, dedicated team. The role offers a blend of clinical excellence, client care, and business development responsibilities.
- Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality clinical care across all small animal disciplines
- Provide outstanding client service and build lasting relationships
- Work confidently in a sole charge capacity
- Lead the setup, launch, and ongoing development of the branch
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a growing team of veterinary and support staff
- Contribute to the strategic growth and performance of the practice
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in small animal practice
- Strong all-round clinical skills (advanced skills welcomed but not essential)
- High standards of professionalism and patient care
- Comfortable working independently and making decisions
- Motivated, proactive, and commercially aware
- Keen to take on leadership responsibility and drive success
Working Pattern & Support
- 4-day working week (9:00am – 6:00pm)
- Out-of-hours rota: approximately 1 in 7 nights and weekends
- Dedicated night nursing support with limited call-outs
- Additional support from established branches during busy periods or leave
