Who They Are
This is a new, contemporary small animal clinic opening in South East London, designed to deliver a progressive model of veterinary care in a welcoming, purpose‑built setting. The clinic is part of a wider independent organisation committed to clinical quality, strong team culture, and patient‑centred practice.
The environment has been intentionally created to support a high‑performing, integrated clinical team. You will be supported by a broader network of veterinary surgeons and nursing professionals across the group, including those with advanced and certificate‑level expertise. This role is an opportunity to shape the clinic’s standards, culture, and long‑term direction from day one.
What You’ll Do
Clinical Duties (80%)
- Deliver first‑opinion consultations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures at a high clinical standard.
- Lead by example through adoption of evidence‑based medicine and collaborative clinical decision‑making.
- Oversee clinical governance, including case reviews, audits, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
- Support colleagues to work to the top of their qualification, empowering efficient and safe patient care.
- Identify opportunities to expand or improve clinical services and patient pathways.
Operational & Business Leadership
- Lead the clinic’s local strategy, including HR, recruitment, health and safety, client care, and marketing involvement.
- Oversee budget planning, P&L awareness, and operational performance, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
- Support membership and client‑retention strategies through consistent standards and communication.
- Ensure full compliance with clinical, operational, and safety protocols.
- Review and manage client feedback, including clinical and non‑clinical complaints.
People Leadership & Team Development
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership to the veterinary team, nursing lead, and practice management team.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, structured 1:1s, and professional development planning.
- Support a culture of open communication, effective information flow, and documented team meetings.
- Encourage collaboration, peer coaching, and shared problem‑solving across all departments.
- Promote and uphold a culture based on wellbeing, respect, inclusion, and early identification of concerns.
