Clinical Director – South East London, UK | Up to £80,000 + Leadership Opportunity
Are you an experienced veterinary surgeon ready to step into a leadership role at one of London’s most modern, luxury veterinary practices? GVC is working with a forward-thinking group to recruit a Clinical Director for a brand-new site opening in South East London this year. This is a rare opportunity to shape a clinic from day one while maintaining a strong clinical focus.
This role offers a balanced split of 80% clinical and 20% non-clinical responsibilities, allowing you to lead from the front while influencing the strategic direction of the practice.
The Role
As Clinical Director, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional clinical care, leading and developing a high-performing team, and driving the success of this new site.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Deliver the highest standards of patient care through strong leadership
- Promote evidence-based medicine and lead by example
- Oversee clinical governance, audits, and continuous improvement
- Support and develop the clinical team through training and CPD
- Maximise team performance through effective collaboration and skill utilisation
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, inspire, and develop the veterinary and wider practice team
- Line manage senior team members, including the Practice Manager and Head Nurse
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and team meetings
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture
Business & Strategy
- Drive client growth and engagement within the local community
- Lead clinic strategy including marketing, recruitment, and operations
- Oversee HR, health & safety, and overall client experience
- Manage budgets, KPIs, and financial performance
- Ensure effective pricing and charging processes
Client Experience
- Deliver an outstanding, empathetic client journey
- Manage and resolve client concerns professionally
- Ensure clear communication, informed consent, and transparency
Wellbeing & Culture
- Champion a positive workplace culture focused on wellbeing
- Proactively identify and support team wellbeing needs
- Promote an open, honest, and supportive environment
About You
- Experienced Veterinary Surgeon with strong clinical expertise
- Previous leadership or senior role within a practice
- Passionate about developing teams and maintaining high clinical standards
- Commercially aware with an understanding of practice performance
- Excellent communicator with a client-first approach
