Who They Are
This is a new, purpose‑designed small animal clinic opening in South West London, created to deliver a modern approach to first‑opinion veterinary care within a supportive, people‑focused environment. The clinic is part of a wider independent veterinary group committed to clinical quality, professional autonomy, and a strong focus on patient welfare.
You will be joining a team backed by a broad clinical network, including colleagues with additional qualifications across multiple disciplines such as surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, neurology, oncology, exotics, and internal medicine. The clinic has been designed from the ground up with contemporary clinical spaces, high‑quality equipment, and a focus on creating an environment that supports both clients and the team.
As a new site, this role provides the unique opportunity to shape operational processes, develop team culture, and influence long‑term clinical standards from the outset.
What You’ll Do
This role blends clinical leadership, strategic management, and hands‑on veterinary practice.
Clinical Responsibilities (80% of role)
- Provide first‑opinion consultations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures, ensuring high standards of clinical care.
- Promote evidence‑based medicine and lead clinical decision‑making within the team.
- Support colleagues in delivering care aligned with clinical guidelines and internal standards.
- Run and oversee clinical governance, including audits, case reviews, and quality‑improvement projects.
- Mentor colleagues and guide professional development across the veterinary and nursing teams.
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide clear leadership to the veterinary team, nursing lead, and practice manager.
- Conduct regular performance conversations, 1:1s, and structured development reviews.
- Ensure effective communication across the clinic, including regular, documented team meetings.
- Build a culture focused on respect, inclusion, wellbeing, and collaborative working.
- Identify team needs early and support appropriate wellbeing pathways.
Business & Operational Management
- Lead the clinic’s local strategy and operational delivery, including HR, marketing, recruitment, and client‑experience standards.
- Manage key performance indicators, budget planning, and day‑to‑day operational decision‑making.
- Support membership and client acquisition targets by directing relevant activities and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, clinical SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee service development, equipment requirements, and facility planning.
- Assist in annual business planning, monthly reporting, and identifying operational improvements.
