🩺 The Role
As Head Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll be the clinical lead — setting standards, mentoring the vet team, and driving best practice across the surgery. You’ll still be hands-on clinically, but with the authority to influence how the practice runs day to day.
There’s no routine out-of-hours, but continuity of care matters — so when there are overnight inpatients, you’ll be the point of contact. Sensible, professional, and exactly what you’d expect at this level.
🔬 Key Responsibilities
- Clinical leadership and decision-making across the practice
- Mentoring and supporting Veterinary Surgeons at all levels
- Maintaining and improving clinical standards and protocols
- Managing complex medical and surgical cases
- Overseeing inpatient care and continuity when required
- Working closely with senior nursing and management teams

- RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
- Strong experience in first-opinion practice
- Proven leadership skills (or ready to step up)
- Confident managing complex cases and guiding others
Comfortable being on-call for overnight inpatients only
