The role
Due to upcoming maternity leave Medivet have an opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join the team at the Alfreton 24 hour hospital for a fixed term of 9-12 months, with potential to move to a permanent role when the term is finished.

Salary package of up to £65,000 PA

We can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the UK.
This is a fixed term, full-time role working 39 hours per week over four days plus 1:6 full weekends but we're open to negotiation so get in touch and let us know what works for you.

Key accountabilities
- Ensure all team members provide quality and ethical care to all clients and their pets/livestock. - Assess and examine and diagnose patients’ medical issues - Perform surgery, dress and treat wounds. - Perform diagnostic laboratory, imaging and ultrasound testing where required. - Prescribe medication. - Promote preventative care by advocating and administering routine vaccinations and immunisations. - Educate clients on positive lifestyle choices for pets/livestock. - Euthanise patients. - Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures. - Maintain patients medical records.
Skills and experience
- Registered with the RCVS. - Qualified MRCVS. - Commitment to animal welfare. - Ability to keep on top of practice protocols and procedures. - Excellent organisational skills.

Within our Alfreton Park Vet Hospital you will be working as part of a large, driven team of ten vets, twelve nurses and five receptionists.
Our dedicated and dynamic team of nurses and receptionists work alongside a team of vets, many of whom are certificate holders or are in the process of gaining them, specialising in dermatology, surgery, internal medicine, emergency & critical care and ophthalmology.
The practice is well-equipped with six consult rooms, separate dog and cat wards, three sterile theatres, separate suites for diagnostics, dental facilities, digital x-ray, two staff rooms and much more.
