Veterinary Surgeon Required At Lamond Veterinary Clinic In Livingston, West Lothian
Lamond Veterinary Clinic
Livingston, West Lothian, United Kingdom
We have an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team here at Lamond Vets, Livingston. The role involves a mixture of consulting and operating spread over 4 days. The ratio of operating and consulting days is flexible based on the candidate's interests. The day off can be fixed but these are usually variable to allow at least 1 in 4 long weekends. Salary £40000-£55000 DOE.
Veterinary Surgeons work 3:10 Saturdays (9:00am-4:00pm) with a 2-hour break in the day for lunch/ admin. The role would also involve covering one weekday night per week OOH from 6:30pm until 10:00pm only (we use Vets Now after 10pm.) Out of hours is usually quiet and if Vets live within 30-45mins drive of the practice they can just take the phone home (night nurses cover in-patient duties.)
We are a busy RCVS accredited small animal practice with a motivated team of 32 staff. Our exceptional reputation over the past 66 years speaks for itself as our clients voted us “Best Scottish Vet” in 2018, 2019 and 2020. We support all interests and certificates currently held in the practice include Soft Tissue & Orthopaedic Surgery and ECC.
We work in a bright, spacious purpose-built building with a refurbishment and expansion due to start in September 2021. Our practice is particularly well equipped with surgical and diagnostic kit as we have a high proportion of clients seeking gold standard treatment. Our caseload is large and varied with many longstanding, loyal clients. We work closely with the Scottish SPCA and other local charities to perform surgeries, consultations, and legal casework.
Our team of 32 is made up of 8 Veterinary Surgeons, 13 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 3 Veterinary Care Assistants and 8 Support Team staff.
We are looking for a confident all-rounder who has a positive, resilient attitude. The ideal candidate would be level-headed with excellent communication skills. Candidates need to be confident performing all aspects of first opinion veterinary practice and this role is not suitable for new graduates. Candidates must be MRCVS and a full UK driving license is useful but not essential.
