The Details
- Salary: Up to £65,000 depending on experience
- Hours: Flexible rota — details below
- Location: West Midlands, close to Birmingham city centre with excellent motorway access
What your week looks like
- Clinic open Monday to Friday 8:00am — 7:00pm, Saturday 9:00am — 1:00pm
- 1 in 3 Saturdays — consulting only, sole charge
- Set day off each week plus an early Friday finish 1 in 3
- At least one op day per week guaranteed
- 15-minute standard consults, 30-minute slots available for complex cases
- Catch-up slots every 60 to 90 minutes — no rushing, no cramming
- No Sundays, no OOH
- Leaving on time is prioritised — time is built in to finish notes before you go
The Practice
A well-established, community-focused small animal practice with a high proportion of insured clients and a predominantly cat and dog caseload. The equipment list is impressive — dental X-ray, laparoscopy, endoscopy, Kyon TPLO, harmonic scalpel and K-laser, alongside all standard kit. The team keeps the majority of cases in house and a quality referral hospital is within 45 minutes for the rare occasions it is needed.
The practice is currently working towards zero pain accreditation — an interest in being involved in that process would be a real bonus.
The Team
Led by two highly experienced Practice Owner surgeons — both certificate holders or near completion — supported by a Head Nurse with over five years of loyalty to the practice, a skilled nursing team, VCA, Client Care Advisors and an RVN Practice Manager. A new graduate vet is also part of the team, and with one Practice Owner heading on maternity leave later this year, the Senior Vet will play an important role in supporting and mentoring the junior team alongside the remaining Partner and Practice Manager.
Who we are looking for
- An MRCVS with strong general small animal surgical and medical ability
- Confident with routine surgery — this is a must
- Positive, good-humoured and genuinely motivated to grow
- Able to step into a clinical leadership role with support around you
- A team player who leads by example and takes pride in their work
