GVC are assisting a busy, well-equipped 24-hour small animal hospital in South Yorkshire that is seeking an experienced Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated ECC team. This is an excellent opportunity for a vet with strong ECC and critical care experience who is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
The Role
You’ll work in a predominantly ECC capacity with a strong emphasis on critical care, patient advocacy, and clinical excellence. The hospital is purpose-built and exceptionally well resourced, offering an ideal setting for vets who enjoy complex case management and collaborative working.
The role is offered as 40 hours over 4 days per week, with a 1 in 6 full weekend rota, though part-time hours can be discussed for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional ECC and critical care to a high clinical standard
- Provide clear, compassionate communication to clients
- Create accurate treatment and care plans with transparent costings
- Ensure high standards of clinical governance and compliance
- Support, mentor and develop colleagues within the team
- Complete thorough clinical handovers and patient transfers
- Share clinical best practice across the wider veterinary team
Candidate Requirements
- RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
- Advanced ECC experience with confidence in critical care cases
- ECC certificate advantageous but not essential
- Strong clinical leadership and team-working skills
- Passion for progressive clinical culture and high-quality patient care
- Experience supporting nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures
