JR Veterinary is recruiting a Night ECC Veterinary Surgeon on behalf of a family-run, RCVS accredited 24-hour hospital in West Yorkshire. With a 7 nights on / 14 nights off rota, a talented in-house team and exceptional facilities, this is a standout opportunity for an experienced emergency vet ready to thrive overnight.
The Details
- £55,000 — £60,000 DOE
- 7 Nights On / 14 Nights Off
- Shifts: 8pm — 8am
- OOH and referral support to 16 referring surgeries
The Practice
This is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art hospital combining a busy first opinion practice with a high-volume OOH and referral service — giving you the very best of both worlds.
Your Night Team
You will never be working alone. A typical night shift includes:
- 1 Senior RVN
- 2 VCAs
- Twilight RVNs on until midnight
- Receptionist cover until 10pm
The Role
As the overnight ECC Vet Surgeon, you will be at the heart of a varied and genuinely interesting caseload. The night team regularly performs:
- Caesareans, pyometras and exploratory laparotomies
- Enterotomy and enterectomy procedures
- Oesophageal tube and Seldinger chest drain placements
- TFAST/AFAST, endoscopy and negative pressure wound therapy
- Management of Addisonian, ketoacidotic diabetic and severe pancreatitis cases
Half hour OOH consults are standard, giving you the time to deliver the quality of care your patients deserve.

- RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
- Solid ECC experience — essential
- Strong medical and surgical skills across a wide caseload
- Calm, confident and clinically capable under pressure
- A team player who embraces the variety night work brings
