Clinical leadership. Advanced medicine. A team that genuinely listens.
Feeling ready for more?
If you are an experienced veterinary surgeon who loves complex medical cases but feels ready to step into a role where your voice truly matters, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for.
This is for someone who wants to lead with confidence, practice high-level medicine, and still have the space to enjoy life outside of work.
The Opportunity
We are working with a well-established, multi-site veterinary group in Dewsbury, that has built a reputation for clinical excellence without losing its human touch. This is a senior medical role within a purpose-built hospital environment, supported by a large, experienced team and genuine investment in quality care.
You will step into a position where you are not just another pair of hands. You will be a clinical leader, shaping medical standards, mentoring colleagues, and influencing how cases are managed across the practice.
The caseload is varied and intellectually stimulating, ranging from advanced internal medicine, through to ECC-style presentations, all supported by excellent diagnostics and a dedicated out-of-hours team. This is a role designed for someone who wants to stretch clinically, without carrying the weight alone.
Why This Role Is Different
A caseload that keeps you engaged
You will work with both routine and complex medical cases, supported by CT, endoscopy, advanced ultrasound, dental radiography and laparoscopic facilities. Middle-tier referrals are seen on site, allowing continuity and depth in case management.
Real clinical leadership
This is not leadership in name only. You will help guide clinical governance, support decision-making across the team, and mentor vets who value learning and collaboration.
A team that shares knowledge
You will be surrounded by certificate holders and vets actively working towards further qualifications. Case discussion is part of daily life here, not an afterthought.
Facilities that support best practice
The Dewsbury hospital is purpose-built with spacious consult rooms, separate cat and dog areas, fully equipped theatres, and a calm, well-organised working environment with 15-minute consults as standard.
Work-life balance that is discussed, not dictated
Multiple rota options are available, with flexibility built in. The aim is sustainability, not burnout.
Your Journey Here
In your first month, you will focus on settling into the team, understanding workflows, and building strong working relationships with vets, nurses, and the ECC night team.
By three months, you will be confidently leading complex medical cases, supporting colleagues clinically, and contributing to discussions around protocols and standards.
By six months, you will be an established clinical leader, influencing medical direction, mentoring others, and potentially progressing further training or certification aligned with your interests.
