A trusted UK supplier of veterinary surgical products has launched an innovative new product to support enhanced surgical and wound management.

Animus Surgical, which is owned by vet Nick Butcher, has introduced SkinBond Multi, a skin adhesive conveniently packaged in 10 x single-use pipettes.

This new product is now available alongside Animus’s best-selling standard SkinBond, which comes in a reusable dropper bottle. Both products contain the same veterinary-grade n-butyl cyanoacrylate, which sets in seconds to form a strong, flexible, waterproof and anti-bacterial protective seal.

SkinBond is suitable for both the final closure of surgical incisions and for adhesing the edges of minor skin lacerations in all species. It supports both wound healing and reduces infection rates.

“From my own years in both small animal and equine practice, I understand the need for a fuss-free solution for those final touches in surgery and minor wounds,” said Nick, who worked in and founded the Active Vetcare Group.

“SkinBond Multi is designed for precisely this. The single-use pipettes offer unparalleled convenience whilst eliminating cross-contamination risk and reducing waste.”

Key benefits for veterinary professionals include:

As part of its launch of SkinBond Multi, Animus Surgical continues its commitment to social responsibility, donating 15 per cent of all profits to the Quadstar Foundation

The educational charity, founded by Nick, provides mentoring and support to gifted young people facing adversity, with a focus on young vets. The charity has already established strong links with Bristol Veterinary School.

Nick said: “Quadstar is something which I am incredibly passionate about.

“We’re proud to be able to direct a proportion of our SkinBond profits to help provide funding for six current students at various vet schools across the UK. Our first two vet students graduate this year, which is hugely exciting, and our ambition is to help many more on their veterinary career path.”
