Simon Innes, Chief Executive of CVS, has won the Award for Chief Executive Officer of the Year in the annual Grant Thornton Quoted Company of the Year Awards.  The Awards recognise the achievements of quoted companies and their directors listed outside the FTSE 350.  He was presented with his award at a gala dinner at the Natural History Museum in London on Monday 27 January 2016.

CVS, the UK's fastest growing practice, now owns 117 practices across 333 sites in the UK.  During 2015 it opened a new state-of-the-art referral centre, Lumbry Park, which, together with a number of acquisitions, helped it towards its goal of creating the largest specialist network across the UK.  It also experienced significant growth in its pet owner loyalty scheme, Healthy Pet Club, which now has more than 240,000 members.  It achieved strong growth in its other Divisions and has recently announced its intention to move into the pet insurance sector.

Commenting on the Award to Simon Innes, Philip Secrett, Head of Public Company Advisory, Grant Thornton UK LLP, said:  "Simon has done a fantastic job with CVS Group since becoming CEO in 2004.  Excellent growth has been recognised by the market with a strong uptrend in the share price over recent years, together with a rising valuation."

Simon Innes said:  "2015 was a particularly exciting year for CVS.  Our strong growth enabled us to continue to invest in the latest technology and to provide a diverse range of career paths for our colleagues.  As the largest provider of veterinary treatment and care in the UK we look forward to further growth during 2016 and to offering even wider development opportunities for our teams working in all areas of the veterinary profession."  He added:  "This Award is a powerful endorsement of our business strategy but our success is a team effort.  I am honoured to receive this Award on behalf of everyone at CVS."

Key to its success is CVS' ability to attract ambitious veterinary staff whilst continuing to invest in the development of their clinical skills and in research to drive the profession forward.  It also provides the business support to ensure its diverse range of small animal, large animal and equine practices achieve their full potential.  CVS' guiding principles include a commitment to excellence in all aspects of its work and a focus on building long-term relationships with its customers and suppliers.  The company works in close partnership with the wider veterinary profession and industry colleagues.
