Dogs Trust Vet Visit
Dogs Trust Partners With CVS Vets To Improve Canine Welfare And Empower Dog Owners
Dogs Trust and CVS Vets have announced a three-year partnership to improve the health and welfare of dogs. Together, the organisations aim to support dogs and their owners by providing education, awareness and practical guidance.
The partnership will help owners and their dogs feel more comfortable when visiting the vet, encouraging positive experiences throughout their care journey. CVS Vets practice teams will signpost owners to Dogs Trust services where appropriate, including behaviour support and other welfare resources. CVS Vets practice teams will also be supported to join the Dog Friendly Clinic Scheme, to create the most comfortable experience possible for dogs during veterinary visits. The scheme, operated by Dogs Trust and the British Veterinary Behaviour Association (BVBA) provides training and resources to better equip veterinary teams to recognise and minimise canine stress and support owners with behavioural advice.
The partnership will also draw upon Dogs Trust and CVS Vets’ combined expertise to develop a range of educational resources and awareness campaigns around the benefits of preventative healthcare and dog welfare. By helping owners make informed decisions on routine vaccinations, parasite control, and regular health checks, the initiative aims to improve long-term health outcomes and promote responsible pet ownership.
Karen Reed, Veterinary and Welfare Director at Dogs Trust, said: "We are delighted to be partnering with CVS Vets to bring together our expertise in dog welfare and veterinary care to support owners with trusted advice, practical guidance and helpful resources, as well as working together to make vet visits easier, build owners’ confidence and create more positive experiences for dogs. Together, we want every owner to feel supported in giving their dog the best possible care, helping more dogs enjoy happy, healthy lives with the people who love them."
Lizzie McLennan-Green, Companion Animal Veterinary Director at CVS Group, added: “Preventative healthcare plays a vital role in lifelong wellbeing. By partnering with Dogs Trust, we can support owners with practical guidance, build confidence around veterinary visits and make it easier for adopted dogs to receive the care they need. We are proud to work together towards a shared goal of improving canine welfare and creating positive experiences for owners at every stage of their journey.”
