- Pexion, a product for reducing epileptic seizures in dogs from Boehringer Ingelheim, was the winner, receiving 22% of all mentions.
- Apoquel from Zoetis and Semintra, another product from Boehringer Ingelheim, came joint second. Each received 12% of the mentions.
- Semintra is the first veterinary angiotensin receptor blocker used in cats suffering from chronic kidney disease.
- Apoquel is a fast-acting treatment for the control of acute and chronic canine pruritus.
- Hill’s y/d, an iodine restrictive diet for the management of feline hyperthyroidism came in third position, receiving 6% of mentions. Y/d had been voted the Best New Product of 2012 in the previous survey.
This year CM Research also asked vets to name their favourite veterinary advertisement. The results showed that vets can appreciate the difference between a good product and good marketing. Semintra’s ads, featuring Nacho and Socks the cats, won the hearts of the vets, even though vets did not consider Semintra the most outstanding product of last year.
Bayer’s parasite awareness campaign ‘It’s a jungle out there’ and Metacam’s ‘unstoppable’ were the runner-ups.
The survey was completed online during February 2014 using Vetspanel, CM Research’s community of vets. You are free to use the results of the survey and we would be happy to provide you with additional information about the survey.
