Altano supports Congress accommodation competition and bursaries while VetPartners hosts free networking evening
Students and recent graduates can look forward to an even more accessible and rewarding BEVA Congress (ICC Birmingham 9–12 September 2026) this year, thanks to a range of competitions, bursaries and social events designed to help the next generation of equine vets make the most of the profession's biggest annual gathering in Europe.
BEVA Congress has long been a highlight of the equine veterinary calendar, bringing together vets, vet nurses, students and industry professionals for three days of world-class CPD, practical learning, networking and social events. This year, thanks to the generosity of Altano and VetPartners, there are even more opportunities for students and new graduates to attend, connect and develop their careers.
Altano student competition to win a free night at Congress
“Nothing should stand in the way of attending Congress, but we know costs can quickly add up for students,” said BEVA President Imogen Burrows. “That’s why we’ve teamed up with Altano to give 10 lucky student vets a free night. Even better, winners will be offered a twin room on Thursday 10 September, so that they can bring a friend along too!”
The initiative complements BEVA's discounted student registration rates and six months' access to Congress lecture recordings after the event, enabling students to continue learning long after Congress has finished.
Altano bursaries
Altano is also funding five bursaries for BEVA new graduate members who qualified within the last four years.
Each bursary includes:
- £250 towards travel and accommodation
- £100 towards Congress registration
The bursaries are intended to help early-career equine vets access high-quality continuing professional development while building professional networks and exploring the latest developments in equine veterinary medicine.
Lauren Jervis, University of Liverpool student and BEVA Student Representative said:
"I went to BEVA Congress for the first time last year and it has been one of the highlights of my university experience so far. You get to network with so many other vets and vet students, hear about how interesting and unique everyone's journeys are, and it really helps you to see where you can take your career.
“For me, one of the most important things about BEVA Congress was that it made me realise, as a student, you are already part of this amazing community. You get so much support and everyone's so friendly.”

VetPartners Networking Event
Students and recent graduates attending Congress are also invited to a free social event hosted by VetPartners at O'Neill's, Broad Street, on Thursday evening during Congress (time to be confirmed).
