This January Burns Pet Nutrition are partnering with Dog Furiendly to encourage dog owners to keep fit by grabbing their pets leads and taking part in the Tail Wag to 5k to raise money for the dog charity Broken Biscuits.

The leading healthy pet food company and the number one source for dog friendly outings have teamed up to create a new exercise program that is sure to get those tails wagging and adrenaline pumping.

As part of the charity campaign, both brands have collaborated with human running experts RunWales and canicross (cross country running with dogs) experts Pawrunner to ensure the programme is tailored to support human fitness with careful recognition for the welfare and health of our canine participants.

Over the next 8-12 weeks, the Tail Wag to 5k routine will seek to improve participants’ stamina as they train to run a 5k with their pooch by their side, unlocking a healthy lifestyle for both dogs and their owners.

From the week commencing 23rd January, the 10-12 week programme will encourage complete beginners to become more active, by making it easy and fun. Those keen to take part won’t need special training either, participants can easily go from a couch potato to a long-distance runner in just twelve weeks!

By running for just a minute at a time, the programme sets realistic expectations and makes the challenge feel achievable from the start. Not only transforming their own health, but helping any couch potato dog to become an experienced runner too!

Participants are being encouraged to raise money for dog charity Broken Biscuits, the disabled animal advocacy organization who work to promote the many options available to treat and rehabilitate injured animals and restore their mobility so that they can return to active lives.

John Burns, founder of Burns Pet Nutrition said “We believe that the key to feeling good and staying healthy for both dogs and humans is exercise. That’s why we’re thrilled to be teaming up with Dog Furiendly to create this exciting programme which will hopefully inspire owner and dog to both improve their stamina and overall level of fitness so that they can run a 5K together!”

Adele Pember, CEO and Founder of Dog Furiendly said "We know that having a healthy exercise routine can be easier to stick to when you have a friend to do it with. Well, there’s no better friend than your pooch! We're proud to be launching this free exercise programme which inspires our nation of dog lovers to get fit and healthy together. We hope that together we can motivate lots of dog owners to get up off the sofa, grab their running shoes and give it a go. It's all for a great cause, and we can all have some tail-wagging fun along the way!"

The campaign will launch on January 23rd, with a host of mini-events taking place on the same day across the UK.
