CVS Group has launched a new health cash plan to look after its colleagues’ financial, physical and mental wellbeing, supporting its long-term vision to be the veterinary company people most want to work for.

The free CVS health cash plan is available on an opt-in basis to all CVS colleagues1in the UK and ROI.

It will enable colleagues to claim back the cost of a range of medical treatments including dental, optical, physiotherapy and specialist consultations. All claims will be paid within five working days.

The plan also offers additional services including access to unlimited GP telephone and video appointments 24 hours a day, ‘mywellness’ wellbeing tools and online health assessments. Dependent children are automatically covered2 and colleagues can also add a partner to their plan.

In addition to the free health cash plan, CVS is offering UK colleagues access to competitively priced private medical insurance. Those joining this scheme are given virtual GP services, fast track referrals to specialists, plus access to private hospitals, tests and eligible treatment when needed. The scheme also includes physiotherapy, health issues, and counselling and support services - both for work related and personal issues.

As an extra supplement, CVS is also making critical illness cover and life insurance available to colleagues at competitive rates, as a financial safety net to protect them and their family.

Helen Finney, Group HR Director at CVS, said: “During this cost of living crisis it is even more important for us to help fund and support the health of our team. Our new schemes will further help colleagues to look after their financial, physical and mental wellbeing and access treatment and support as and when they need it.”

The new colleague benefit schemes are open to UK CVS colleagues to opt in to3. New starters also have the opportunity to join any of the new benefits schemes upon joining CVS.

CVS offers a significant number of existing benefits to its colleagues. These include; a Save as You Earn scheme which allows colleagues to save regular amounts each month over a three-year period and benefit from increases in the Group’s share price over that time; enhanced maternity pay to support colleagues in starting a family and then returning to work; a significant number of staff discounts on CVS products and services; and the support of colleagues’ wellbeing with a 240-strong wellbeing champion network and regular colleague check-ins. The organisation has also launched a new CVS Refresh reward scheme where teams receive a weekly allowance to spend on treats or classes.

CVS Group operates across small animal, farm animal, equine, laboratories and crematoria, with 474 veterinary practices and referral centres in the UK, the Republic of Ireland and the Netherlands. In the last five years the company has invested nearly £80 million in its sites, facilities and equipment, in addition to industry leading training and support, to give the best possible care to animals. 1 CVS will pay the membership fee for employees of £53.88 per year. This is a taxable benefit which means members of the scheme will pay tax on this amount at their usual rate of tax, for example a 20% tax payer would pay tax for this benefit of around 90p per month.

2 Up to the age of 18 in full-time education.

3 The free CVS health cash plan is also open to ROI colleagues.
